FINAL NOTE FROM THE COMMISSION
The Naming Commission has fully discharged its duties as required by the FY 2021 National Defense Authorization Act. As such, the Commission officially disbanded October 1, 2022 and this website and associated e-mail addresses are no longer actively monitored. Our work is being catalogued with the National Archives.
The Commissioners extend a heartfelt thanks to military and community leaders, service members and their families, other stakeholders, and Commission staff members for the tremendous amount of input and support that made our Final Report possible.
The Naming Commission was given the important role of recommending names that exemplify our U.S. military and national values. Through numerous community engagements and thousands of direct submissions via our website, we gained significant feedback and insight to help ensure the best names are recommended to Congress.
